1473: Machine-Printed Music 

The invention of machine printing made sheet music more readily available than ever before, meaning that music could be reproduced in one’s own home rather than attending a concert. Additionally, machine-printed sheet music moved the music industry towards being “about more than just performers, events and instruments,” as composers could become more popular than before (“The History of Music Distribution”).
